Why Choose Advise & Guide

"There is a sense of urgency that needs to be instilled into the minds of our students. High school is so much more than a social gathering. It is a place abundant with valuable information. Students who tap into that information, and capitalize on their journey through high school will hold the keys to unlock doors to limitless opportunities. We need our children to understand that sense of urgency."
— James Bowman, President, Advise & Guide

Advise & Guide was designed for parents who wish to give their child a distinct edge in high school. Our staff and board of directors are all recognized, certified educators or administrators who specialize in working with high school students. We realize the importance of having a personal advisor - someone students can count on to make sure they are making the correct decisions, especially early in their high school careers. Granted, most students may already have a guidance counselor in their high school. However, in a typical high school setting, an advisor/counselor is responsible for approximately 400-600 students (a national ratio of 500:1). Needless to say, there are not enough hours in the week to reach every single student and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing in order to graduate.

What makes Advise and Guide unique is our ability to devote substantially more one-on-one time to students and their needs. It is akin to having an 'extra parent' to assist in the academic process. Our advisors communicate with their students weekly - supplying them with important upcoming events, grade check information, academic advice, and so much more. Communication with your child is the key to success. The 'extra parent' concept is invaluable - the bonus is that our advisors have years of experience in college admissions, the application process, resume writing, and job interviewing. Our primary goal is to guide students down a path of their interest and ignite their high school and post-high school career - whether it be at a university, community college or trade school.
